RIIKO SAKKINEN

RIIKO SAKKINEN is a visual artist and political dissident. He is the founder of TURBO­REALISM, an anti-capitalist art movement. Sakkinen was born in 1976 in Helsinki. He lives in Spain since 2003 and is head­quartered in Pepino, Province of Toledo. Sakkinen studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki, graduating in 2002.

Sakkinen has exhibited his works widely around the world including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Nationalmuseum, Stockholm; Kiasma Museum of Con­tem­po­rary Art, Helsinki; Camden Arts Centre, London, Artipelag, Stockholm; Musac, León, Spain and Serlachius Museums, Mänttä, Finland.

In Italy he recently participated in Versus Cravan, group show curated by Elisabetta Longari at the Palestra Visconti of Arci Bellezza in Milan in 2018, and The Border Pavilion, Research Pavilion, Venice , curated by Raúl Zamudio in 2017.

His works are in the permanent collections of several museums including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Kiasma Museum of Contemporay Art, Helsinki; HAM, Helsinki; Amos Rex, Helsinki; Serlachius Museums, Mänttä, Finland and Bury Art Museum, United Kingdom.
