GIOVANNA RICOTTA

Toilette, 2008

Giovanna Ricotta, born in Loano in the province of Savona in 1970, graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan in 1994 and quickly established herself as one of the most significant performers on the Italian scene. From 1997 to today he has worked with videos, installations, photos and drawings, building an artistic identity in which art is life and the body is an object. In his works there is always a provocative dualism, in which the body is nothing more than a means, a medium to reach the final concept and the conclusion of an articulated and complex reflexive process. He has collaborated with important curators including Francesca Alfano Miglietti, Renato Barilli and Alessandra Galletta, with gallery owners who have made the history of performance in Italy as Luciano Inga Pin, with important artistic institutions such as the Mambo of Bologna and the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan and he collaborates with Giorgio Chinea Art Cabinet of Padua, where he held the recent solo “Surprise Me” in 2019. He is a professor of drawing at the ACME Academy of European Multimedia Communication in Milan.

She partecipated in the first edition of Corpi sul palco in 2019.
